Municipal elections, Vasles, March 2008

A team of women and men has decided to get together around a dynamic and innovative municipal project to introduce themselves to you, inhabitants of Vasles, for the local elections in March 2008. To come up to your expectations, Maryse Janicot, Cécile Bertineau, Emmanuelle Bouchaud, Isabelle Brillant, Edwige Gentilleau, Gaelle Guichard, Marie-Angèle Pied, Mireille Moufranc, Christine Höffken-Burgess, Clément Bernela, Pascal Blot, Dominique Renault, Arnaud Bonifait, Pascal Bellec, Etienne Ferlac, Régis Pillot, Guénolé Michenot, Etienne Georges, Jean-Charles Pied wish to represent you within the future town council of Vasles.

Some of us have always lived here, others came here by the chances of life. All stayed and wish to seethe development of new ideas, constructive projects and initiatives, that are acknowledged by all. At present, the dynamisme of the village of Vasles runs out of steam. Our ambition is to give, with you, a new zest to the development of our village through our proposals

For it, it is necessary to work collectively together, elected representativs and citizens. Our wish is to advance together in order to bring you a comfortable and rural lifestyle with all today`s facilities.

Thank you for your confidence. We shall know how to work and we shall give ourselves the means to succeed in the mission that you will like to entrust us with, through this election.
Our project

Our project builds on two main topicsProximity and Sustainable Development, are our genuine preoccupations.The proximity has never had as much importance, as the young population reinstalls itself in the rural areas and the aging population hopes to live as long as possible at home. We shall primarily watch over
- The maintenance of the personal ser-vices.
- The development of the third sector (e.g. public and private services).
- The installation of new medical services. To develop and to encourage commercial and in general, professional activities, appears to us as the best show case of a dynamic village, as the area Agora 21 (new Vival and bakery). This renewal must not stop there.
The commune must display itself as being a true partner at the side of the local businesses, in:
- Supporting the installation and/or over
- Taking of enterprises.
- Nominating a municipal councillor with special responsibilities for the task of accompanying all present and future economical participants.
Environmental education should become a daily priority for everyone of us. We want our commune to respect its ecological framework:
- A Garden of Solidarity will be created.
- We shall encourage the development of public and collective transport.
- We shall equip all communal public buil-dings with selective sorting waste bins.
- Two containers (scrap-iron and small electric household appliances) will be made available for the inhabitants at the waste-reception-centre.
- Creation of an opportunity for a collective compost in a central location of the village.
- We shall use approved alternative methods in the maintenance of the green and flowering spaces of the village.

Since 2004, the price of the water in the centre of the village has increased by 43%. The community is today obliged to buy half of the required water from the syndicat des eaux and is therefore not autonomous anymore. A study is being made at the moment and following consi-deration of the conclusions, decisions will be taken.

Our young citizens will receive our special attention : We shall create with them a proper youth centre in the heart of the village (Youth House, Public Library) and a Youth Council will be put into place, so that from now on they get involved in the participation of communal life under rules, that they define themselves.200 children attend school in Vasles. We will be vigilant so that these students can benefit from a first class school training. The quality of our schools is also dependant on good working conditions for the teaching personal and suitable equipment. Also, the access ways to and from the schools will be made safer.One councillor will be nominated as a co-ordinator for the schools to ensure the good relationship between the different participants (educative personal, parents of the students and city councillors).

The Association Mouton-Village has allowed our commune to stand out in the canton. Today its functioning is complex and not transparent anymore. We want to see a more sound continuity in giving new orientations, which we will decide together with the inhabitants of Vasles.

The elected councillors must be independent and not abuse their status. A document that sets out our terms of engagements and aims will be drafted and will remind us of the rules, that we have imposed on ourselves. Everyone of us wishes to act to the best of his capacities in this function, and to achieve this, will go through supplementary training.

On top,
- We shall ensure an ongoing contact between the inhabitants of the hamlets and organise several meetings through the year in order to discuss issues of concern and to get to know their expectations and their comments.
- We shall hold a consultation surgery on Saturday mornings in the mairie to allow you to meet us and to exchange opinions.
- Today, numerous inhabitants of other nationalities have taken their first residence in the commune. The municipal council shall serve as a bridge between them and the French inhabitants of Vasles to improve the contact and the exchange between them.
- We shall create a Council of Wise that we shall consult in order to profit from their experience and/or ideas.
- We shall work close together with the technical teams, as they are the direct link between the population and the municipal council.
